Native Plant Event and Plant Swap
Every Saturday from mid May until the last Saturday in October, Healthy Yards, together with The Town of Bedford and Wild Ones Lower Hudson Valley, organizes Native Plant Event. The events are centered around swapping native plant materials, but all your gardening questions are welcome.

Moving or exchanging plants always carries some risk of spreading plant diseases, invasive species, unwanted insects, and introducing non-local genetics into native plant populations. Please help minimize these risks by washing as much soil as possible from the roots before planting and disposing of the removed soil safely in the trash. Inspect plants carefully and do not share plants showing signs of fungal disease or other infections. Never share plants from areas infested with Lesser Celandine. Seeds should only be collected from healthy populations in areas that you actively manage and monitor. Whenever possible, choose local native ecotypes, especially if your property borders a preserve or other site with intact native plant communities.

Bring your native plant seeds in paper envelopes clearly marked with their botanical name.
